A lava lamp is a type of lamp that uses heat to create a light show. The lava lamp was invented in the early 1960s by British engineer Edward Craven Walker. The lamps are made from a sealed glass bottle with a metal base and a wick. The wick is heated by a bulb, which causes the wax inside the bottle to melt and rise to the top of the bottle. As the wax cools, it falls back down to the bottom of the bottle and the cycle repeats itself.
