Hampshire have signed Tino Best on a short-term deal after announcing fellow-West Indian paceman Fidel Edwards will require surgery on a fractured ankle. Edwards was injured during a pre-game football match at Headingley last week and joins Hampshires England seamer Reece Topley (broken hand) on the sidelines. Hampshire director of cricket Giles White said: Unfortunately Fidel has had a serious break and will have to undergo surgery on Tuesday.Its a real shame for him. He has been unbelievable since he has been with us, and has become an extremely popular member of the club.We will support him through his recovery and look forward to having him back in a Hampshire shirt as soon as possible.
